Where It Started
Owner Corey Stephens built this restaurant from years of personal experience and growth in the food industry. He started young, developed a passion for cooking early on, and learned the value of doing things right. Under the mentorship of Elmer Thompson from Elmer’s BBQ in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Corey refined his skills and learned what it means to serve real barbecue with consistency and care.
A Flavor All His Own
Corey was one of the original founders of a popular BBQ restaurant in Smyrna, Georgia. There, he developed original recipes and the signature Luckey’s BBQ sauce that helped shape his reputation. His cooking style brought a bold, authentic flavor to the local BBQ scene and drew strong attention from repeat customers and media alike. From contests to interviews, his work has received recognition—but word of mouth from satisfied customers is what matters most to him.
New Chapter in Marietta
On April 1, 2022, Corey became the sole proprietor of Luckey’s BBQ Place in Marietta. The restaurant has since gained a steady following for both dine-in meals and catering. The clean, modern space features a welcoming bar, murals, and a homey feel. Guests enjoy fast, attentive service, large portions, and food that’s balanced and made to order. The dining experience is elevated with beer and wine options, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a night out.
